This is another good one from the lovely folk making single malts in the tropics. (Dad, I know you wouldn't have been able to believe it, but, seriously--whisky from equatorial regions really is damn good). This one is, as you'd expect, one of the sweeter ones in their lineup. Just for the record, I've tried less than half their lineup, but everything else was clearly drier than this one. Anyway, nice forceful note from the port barrels--a bit of tannic tawniness, lots of berries and vinous bits. Then the whiskey comes through, doing its thing: warm, toasty, nutty, a bit smoky, plenty of tobacco leaf, lots of vanilla. Finishes warm and fruity. This one is fun to drink and it would certainly be lovely if I could have some whenever I felt like it. But it's on the pricy side for that.
