Tasting Notes and Technical Description:

Visual Appearance:

Upon pouring, Glenmorangie Signet reveals an alluring dark amber color, tinged with golden highlights. The legs are thick and slow-moving, indicative of the whisky's rich and viscous texture.

Nose (Aroma):

The bouquet is a complex mélange of aromas that engage the senses instantly. Dark chocolate and espresso emerge first, followed by layers of spiced orange, candied lemon peel, and a subtle underpinning of toasted malt. Notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, and dried fruits, particularly fig and date, add to the olfactory complexity.

An initial burst of dark chocolate and coffee commands attention, elegantly transitioning into the spiciness of cinnamon and aniseed. This is complemented by layers of fruitiness—tangerine, apricot, and ripe cherries—that lend brightness and balance. The textural mouthfeel is creamy and voluptuous, with undertones of almond and walnut adding an additional layer of complexity. The presence of malted barley is a tribute to Glenmorangie's unique use of "chocolate malt" in the production of Signet, resulting in a velvety palate not commonly found in Scotch whiskies.

The finish is extraordinarily long, marked by a sustained dark chocolate note and an evolving crescendo of spices. A background of tobacco and leather surfaces towards the end, adding depth and maturity.

Exclusively available at Third Base Market & Spirits, Glenmorangie Signet is an unparalleled achievement in the world of Scotch whisky. Crafted for the discerning connoisseur, it is a sumptuous affair that challenges and rewards with its intricate layers of flavor. This is not just a whisky for drinking; it is a whisky for experiencing, savoring, and celebrating the masterful artistry of Glenmorangie's distillers.

My Current Favorite

I have drunk a lot of whiskey in my day, including some very high end drams. This is right up there with the best I’ve ever had.

Great scotch!

Got this bottle got my birthday and all I can say is that it's amazing!

Great scotch!

If you're a Glenmorangie fan, the Signet is a must have.

It's a winner

I ordered this on a whim. I heard some good things about Signet so I figured why not. Turned out to be the right call. A fantastic dram and a wonderful presentation, Box is first class and the bottle Color is a beautiful caramel. I'm not great with pickling up scents on my nose but I do sense richness, sweetness with maybe chocolate. Minimal peat if any at all. The finish is rich, sweet and on the oily side and oh so smooth. A drop of water did open things up a bit. No age statement but it drinks like it's slept in a barrel for decades. On the pricey side but this is a wonderful scotch. Hide this one for only people that are close to you. Me and 2 friends emptied the bottle in one night while having cigars, easily.

Expensive but worth it

Having finished my Glenmorangie 18, I was looking for something even more special. This has the essence of Glenmorangie with the sweetness and fruitiness it’s known for but a more refined and balanced approach. Even the oil balance was good. Not too much, but plenty to extend the finish to a clean end.

From the packaging down to the heavy glass cork top, it gives it a sense of being a bit special and the nose and taste did not disappoint.

It’s on the expensive side but I think I’ll keep it in my rotation.
