Ingredients: Pikesville Rye 6 Year is crafted from high-quality ingredients, including:
- Grains: A carefully selected grain bill, primarily featuring rye, contributes to the whiskey's robust and spicy flavor profile.
Distillation: The production of Pikesville Rye 6 Year follows a meticulous distillation process:
Milling: Grains are finely milled to create grist, exposing starches for fermentation.
Mashing: The grist is combined with water and heated to create a mash. Enzymes in the malted barley facilitate the conversion of starches into fermentable sugars.
Fermentation: The mash is transferred to fermentation tanks, where chosen yeast strains initiate fermentation. Fermentation typically lasts several days, allowing yeast to convert sugars into alcohol and develop key flavor compounds.
Distillation: The fermented wash undergoes distillation in traditional copper pot stills or column stills, capturing the unique character of the rye spirit. The resulting new make spirit is carefully collected and assessed for quality.
Aging: Pikesville Rye 6 Year is aged in new, charred American oak barrels for a full six years, allowing the rye whiskey to develop its mature character, flavors, and complexity.
Tasting Notes: Pikesville Rye 6 Year offers a bold and flavorful tasting experience. Tasting notes may include:
Appearance: The whiskey exhibits a rich amber hue, reflecting its extended aging period.
Aroma: The nose is greeted with enticing aromas of rye spice, caramel, and vanilla, complemented by notes of dried fruits, oak, and a subtle hint of black pepper.
Palate: On the palate, anticipate a harmonious blend of flavors. Spicy rye, toffee, and butterscotch are interwoven with notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, and a gentle oak influence. The mouthfeel is full-bodied and satisfying.
Finish: The finish is long and warming, with lingering notes of rye spice, toasted oak, and a subtle sweetness, showcasing the whiskey's depth and complexity.
Packaging: Pikesville Rye 6 Year is typically presented in an elegantly designed bottle and packaging, reflecting its premium quality and the brand's commitment to heritage and craftsmanship.

Packed perfectly and arrived quickly.
As the title says , it's one of the better ryes I've had the pleasure to experience. Another well made Heaven Hill product.
This is just suck a good rye and a good value. Love the 110 proof point and 6 year age statement. It's a barely legal rye so it never has any of the overly aggressive herbaceous notes you can get in some of the really high ryes.
Go to Rye. Outside a store pick or Michters. This is the best rye around.
The best Rye I’ve found. 110 proof lots of flavor not a strong alcohol flavor
