Always loved the sherry cask Macallan 12. I find it better than the 12 double cask. Prices have been increasing in the last few years though

Every hotel and watering hole in America (and internationally) probably has Maccallan 12 sherry oak available. It's just that popular. In home blind tastings with buddies, this scotch gets demerits for a relatively astringent finish, not at all smooth, and just does not let go of your taste buds. If you like an assertive scotch from beginning to end then this may be your nirvana, but for me I'll usually reach for a different scotch unless I deliberately want what Maccallan 12 sherry oak delivers. It's a great scotch - but for me there are better choices in this price range.
