Tasting Notes and Technical Description:

Visual Appearance:
In the glass, Ardbeg Uigeadail boasts a deep amber color, almost like a dark gold, implying its rich sherry influences.

Nose (Aroma):
The nose instantly delivers an assertive hit of Islay peat, intertwined with elements of brine, iodine, and seaweed. Underneath these maritime notes lies a luxurious bed of dried fruit and caramel, courtesy of its sherry cask maturation.

Palate (Taste):
The initial palate is dominated by intense flavors of smoky peat, followed by a surge of sweet, rich dried fruits like raisins and dates. Notes of espresso, dark chocolate, and spicy oak appear mid-palate, offering complexity and depth.

Finish:
The finish is incredibly long, echoing with waves of salty sea spray, peat smoke, and a touch of spiced fruit cake, leaving a satisfying warmth in its wake.

Mouthfeel:
Full-bodied and oily, the whisky envelops the palate with an intense richness, well-balanced by its robust ABV.

Pairing Suggestions:
The complex flavor profile of this whisky pairs beautifully with robust, umami-rich foods. Think smoked meats or even blue cheese. Its smoky and sweet nuances also make it an excellent after-dinner dram, enjoyed with dark chocolate or a rich dessert.

This is a popular expression from Ardbeg and for good reason. However, its popularity often makes it hard to find. We at Third Base Market & Spirits are proud to offer this distinguished single malt for those who wish to embark on a journey through Islay's multifaceted landscape.

Ardbeg Uigeadail is not just a whisky; it's an experience that takes you to the rugged cliffs and misty shores of Islay. At Third Base Market & Spirits, we're elated to feature such a prodigious and enigmatic dram, a must-try for any serious whisky aficionado.

Sets the bar...

An incredible winter scotch for those sub zero days and not too shabby in the summer either. Better than the other heavy peats, has more depth and dimensions. Straight up.

Awesome scotch at an amazing price!

This Uigeadail is a great scotch. I picked it up at my local spirits distributor over the summer and had been dreaming about another dram. I was so lucky to have found Thirdbase. Their price even with shipping was about $40 less than what I paid at the local place. Their ordering, processing, and shipping was A++ They shipped it within a day and I had the scotch 2 days later. I will definitely be ordering more from Thirdbase.

Regarding this scotch. It’s a rich heavy bodied and oily scotch, but in a good way. It’s much different in my opinion to a Lagavulin or Laphroig. It does have a nice smoky flavor and nose, but does not have near the amount as the afore mentioned and is missing the heavy iodiny taste. It has flavors reminiscent of peppered bacon, or a nice flash seared steak. But finished long with a nice toffee pudding taste and some vanilla undertones and even a little citrus pop at the end too. Again full of body and very leggy, but not in a bad way. I don’t typically add any water to my scotch as I prefer it neat, but this is a scotch because of its higher ABV, adding a little water does open it up a bit. But it’s also equally good neat. My opinion is the water makes the flavor profile slightly more spicy and peppery on the tongue and the palate on the finish.

All in all, this is hands down my favorite scotch right now. It ticks all the boxes for me, and I’m just so happy I found a place that delivers it at a more adorable price. If you’re on the fence about this one, pull the trigger, you can thank me later!
