A solid whiskey with a smoke note that feels underdeveloped and slightly out of place

This is an easy one to sip and enjoy, but lacks character and complexity. Disappointingly, you sense thin versions of what they were going for--light caramel and honey, soft grain notes, then some campfire smoke near the end. If all these things came up to a higher volume and just played a bit louder and more intensely, this would start going somewhere. It feels like a training-wheels version of other whiskies I already adapted to and fell in love with.
