It's awfully sweet, and can smell/taste a bit synthetic. I wonder whether that's the "Beam funk" people mention. It's a big sweet blast on the nose, lots of caramel and vanilla, along with some processed-candy type notes and a bit of black licorice. Light body, big sweet candies, some spices in the background that taste a bit synthetic again. After one glass, I was ready to move this one to the pantry for use in steak sauces. I tried it again, and, paying less attention to it and drinking a little faster/sipping much less, it was much easier to drink. Whiskey that tastes better the faster you drink it is probably...not a health tool.
